Bio

Jerry Sheehan acts as a manager for Government Program Development at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2)/UCSD and leads efforts to investigate how emerging Web technologies can be used to support e-Science.

Jerry has an extensive background in science and technology policy, having worked in the Lt. Governor's Office in Illinois, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and Purdue University. His particular research interests include e-government, social networking technologies, information visualization, and open source software.

While at NCSA, Jerry helped draft the President's Information Technology Advisory Council report on Developing Open Source Software to Advance High End Computing (http://www.nitrd.gov/pubs/pitac/pres-oss-11sep00.pdf).

Jerry is an information omnivore, producing content daily for the Calit2 Research Intelligence portal (http://ri.calit2.net), keeping track of his hourly foci at twitter (http://www.twitter.com/zenchaos), and posting weekly on his personal blog (http://www.blogranger.net).
