    A venture fund known as S.E.VEN (Social Equity Venture Fund) recently announced a novel competition for ideas to address an important issue in emerging economies: namely how to rate possible investment opportunities in potentially higher risk emerging economies. Their idea is to create an index to rate possible investments with the aim of increasing the flow of investment in these regions. While the aim of the competition is noble itself, what's most unique is HOW they will run the competition.

    For decades, American graduate schools have attracted students from all over the world. Over time, of course, the origins of international graduate students has shifted. For years, the NSF Survey of Earned Doctorates has been following where Ph.D. recipients received their undergraduate degrees, and each year it publishes a list showing what universities and colleges graduate the largest number of students going on to get Ph.D.s in the U.S.

    Reliance industry, a large Indian conglomerate has decided that the company will have an enhanced focus on R&D, and as a first step towards achieving the goal they formed a research alliance with IIT-Bombay. The company hopes to make R&D as one of the cornerstones of its future growth, and hopes partnership with IIT-Bombay will enable innovation.
